Jana is a privacy and compliance lawyer. A Texas attorney for more than 20 years, she has always had an integrative, multi-disciplinary approach to the practice of law. After beginning her career as a law clerk to U.S. District Judge John Rainey, Jana moved to Canada to attend a graduate school of theology. After earning a Master of Arts in Theological Studies, she re-entered the legal field by working on behalf of the committee of the unsecured creditors of Enron, which was in ruins due to corporate wrongdoing. For many years thereafter, Jana litigated commercial and bankruptcy-related cases (most involving fraud) for top-tier law firms in Dallas, Houston, and Austin, Texas. Jana joined Amy Beckstead to form Beckstead Terry Ditto PLLC in 2014.
After litigating cases for many years, Jana now enjoys helping business clients with corporate compliance (i.e., litigation prevention). Jana is particularly focused on laws regarding privacy, data security/breach notifications, anti-corruption and bribery (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) and the prevention of slavery in supply chains. She is credentialed as a Certified Information Privacy Professional (US and Europe) (CIPP/US & CIPP/E), a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional (CCEP), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
Jana continues to litigate employment and commercial matters for the firm’s business clients. Jana is admitted to practice in all state, federal and bankruptcy courts in Texas and also has experience before the American Arbitration Association.
Jana has been selected as a Texas Super Lawyer for all years between 2015 and 2022. Based on peer reviews in 2019-2021, Austin Monthly designated Jana as a “Top Attorney” in Austin in the business law category.
Jana is active with the Austin Bar Association and is a board member of Mother Attorneys Mentoring Association (MAMA’s) – Austin.
